The past and the future of the European Green Deal

Why the EU is good for you and the EU elections are decisive for climate, nature and the environment

Ort: Blumenfabrik, Neustifgasse 35, 1070 Wien
Datum: 22. April 2024, 10.30 - 14.30 Uhr

The European Green Deal (EGD) was the landmark initiative by the European Commission that dominated the political discussion in the past years. But the Commission’s mandate will end in June. Was the Green Deal an ‘man in the moon’ moment or just a falling star? What went well, what went badly? What went well, what went badly? Kicking off with inputs from the European Commission and civil society representations we will take stock before opening a high-level panel discussion on the good, the bad and the ugly parts of the EGD. And what are expectations of the respective panellists for sustainable EU climate, nature conservation, resource, and environmental policies?

The second panel will discuss the political outlook on the upcoming 5 years of the newly elected EU parliament. Is there hope for a Green Deal 2, a Social Green Deal or rather a Military Deal? Panellists are representatives of parties running for EU election.
